Collective Unconscious

Nov 11 2011

“The Dreams And Aspirations Issue” of i-D Magazine partially left me feeling un-attractive, un-successful and un-skinny – as usual – but there was also an article in there I wanted to share, as well as a book and a movie (or at least two of it’s main charcters) that are mentioned in the article and which I find of interest:

‘Retromania’ by Simon Reynolds and a new movie called ‘A Dangerous Method’ about Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud (both mentioned in the article) and Sabina Spielrein about the birth of psychoanalysis by David Cronenberg. I enjoyed reading the article and I wish it would have been a little bit longer, but then again my legs could be longer, my hair shorter, my wardrobe more modern and my shoes a bit higher… I guess that’s just how i-D makes me feel! I wonder what that says about my un-conscious.

The article is written by Susan Corrigan and called “Wake Up“ – this is how it starts, read the rest in the mag!

“Some went mad, some ran away…and some were inspired. After a cruel summer where the world seemed to succumb to the power of nightmares, our dreams and aspirations are still here to lead us to a better place. Between the reality of waking life and the surrealism of the collective unconscious, finding a way to move forward with confidence and style – often in the face of injustice and inhumanity will be the making of this generation. Don’t forget, we’re all in this together…”
